theaccntnt.com  ·  Last updated: April 2026

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This notice explains how TheAccntnt collects, uses, and safeguards your data when you visit our website or contact us. It applies to all pages on theaccntnt.com. Your use of this website is also subject to our Terms of Use.

1. About us

TheAccntnt (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a chartered accountancy practice based in Manchester, United Kingdom, also operating in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We are ACCA-qualified and registered with the relevant professional bodies.

We are the data controller for any personal data you share with us through this website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (PDPL).

2. Data we collect

We collect two types of data through this website, both digitally and through any physical correspondence.

  • Data you give us — when you contact us by email, book a call, or message us on WhatsApp or LinkedIn, you may share:
    • Contact details — name, surname, and email address
    • Business type — how you describe your business (e.g. sole trader, freelancer, limited company director, partnership)
    • Service requirements— which services you’re interested in and any additional details you choose to share to help us prepare for your consultation
We only use this information to respond to your enquiry and prepare for any consultation.
  • Data collected automatically — when you visit the site, we collect anonymised usage data through analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site and improve your experience. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
If you are an existing client, the data you share with us as part of our accounting services is governed by your engagement letter — not this notice. Client data (financial records, tax references, business information) is handled under strict professional confidentiality.

3. How we use your data

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • Responding to enquiries — when you contact us, we use your details to reply and, where relevant, to discuss our services.
  • Improving our website — we use anonymised analytics data to understand how visitors use the site and make it better.
  • Site performance — we monitor page load times and errors to keep the site running properly.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or add you to any marketing list without your explicit consent.

Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR): We process your data under the following lawful bases:

  • Legitimate interests — responding to enquiries you initiate and improving our website based on anonymised usage data.
  • Consent — where you explicitly opt in to any communications or services.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or process data under UK or UAE law (e.g. anti-money laundering regulations).

4. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and a small number of trusted third-party tools to analyse site traffic, monitor performance, and improve your experience. These are non-essential cookies used for analytics purposes only — we do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or tracking you across other websites. These tools cannot identify you personally.

The analytics tools we use are:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — measures page views, traffic sources, and user behaviour. Data is anonymised and processed by Google. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity — records anonymised session replays, heatmaps, and UX metrics to help us understand how visitors interact with the site. No personal data is collected. See Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.

You can control or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not affect the core functionality of the website. To manage cookies in your browser:

  • Chrome:Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox:Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari:Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge:Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies

You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Use of artificial intelligence

We may use artificial intelligence tools internally to improve the quality and efficiency of our services, research, and content. Any data processed through AI tools is handled in accordance with this privacy notice. Your personal data is not used to train AI models.

6. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. These include:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Secure hosting infrastructure
  • Regular review of security practices

While no system is completely secure, we review our practices regularly to maintain appropriate protection.

7. Data retention

  • Analytics data — retained for 14 months
  • Contact and booking data — kept for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry or deliver services, then deleted
* For existing clients, accounting and financial records are retained for a minimum of six years in accordance with UK tax legislation (HMRC requirements) and UAE regulatory obligations. This is a legal requirement and applies regardless of whether the client relationship has ended.

8. International data transfers

Some of the analytics tools we use are operated by companies based outside the UK and UAE (primarily in the United States and European Union). This means anonymised usage data may be processed in those regions. These providers maintain appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses and data processing agreements, in line with UK GDPR and UAE PDPL requirements.

We do not transfer any personal data you provide to us (such as your name or email) outside the UK or UAE unless required by law.

9. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Restrict or object to how we use it
  • Request data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

In practice, the only personal data we hold directly is what you sent us — your name, email, and any message you wrote. Analytics data is fully anonymised. Any data request is straightforward for us to fulfil.

To make a request, email info@theaccntnt.comwith “Data Request” as the subject. We’ll respond within 30 days.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

* For visitors based in the UAE, similar rights apply under Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 (PDPL), including the right to access, correct, restrict, object to processing, and withdraw consent. Complaints may be directed to the UAE Data Office.

10. Children

Our services are not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have received data from a minor, please contact us at info@theaccntnt.com and we will delete it promptly.

11. Professional and legal obligations

As a chartered accountancy practice, we are subject to professional and legal obligations that may affect how we handle data:

  • Anti-money laundering (AML) — under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (UK) and UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2018, we are legally required to report suspicious activity to the relevant authorities. In certain circumstances, we are prohibited from informing you that a report has been made.
  • Regulatory duties — we may be required to share client data with public bodies such as HMRC, Companies House, the UAE Federal Tax Authority, or our professional body (ACCA) in fulfilment of our statutory duties.

These obligations override certain data protection rights where applicable. They apply only to client data, not to website visitor analytics.
